NAPLES — A 30-year-old Argentinian man shot by Collier County sheriff’s deputies after they say he pointed a gun at them remained in critical condition Wednesday, suffering from nine bullet wounds and many broken bones.

Defense attorney David Agoston said sheriff’s officials initially denied him access to his client, Jose David Giracca, of 4113 Coconut Circle North in East Naples, but he later obtained permission mid-afternoon Wednesday and visited him that night in the intensive care unit at Lee Memorial Hospital.
