Weekend Bust Nets More Than 3 Tons of Marijuana at South Texas Checkpoint

Falfurrias, Texas — On Saturday, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias, Texas Border Patrol station seized 6,193 pounds of marijuana from a tractor-trailer.

A Border Patrol canine team alerted to the truck as it pulled up to the checkpoint. The vehicle was referred to secondary inspection, where agents discovered the narcotics hidden behind boxed appliances. The marijuana has a street value of $4.9 million.

The driver, marijuana and truck were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
