Illegals Used as Drug Mules

HAVANA - Many more illegals are being forced to transport drugs just to get across the border. It's a nightmare they have to endure for that sought after American dream.

This may explain why nine people struggled through tough conditions to cross drugs today. Border Patrol agents were in the area near Dahlia Street in Havana around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. They saw some suspicious people and called La Joya police officers for backup.

"There were about nine mules carrying bundles of marijuana," said Joe Cantu, La Joya police spokesperson.

Cantu said the men were carrying the bundles uphill, through heavy brush and for almost two miles. Some of them could be 70 or 80 pounds each.

Border Patrol agents said they confronted the drug carriers. The illegals all dropped the bundles and ran back across to Mexico. One carrier wasn't able to get away. Cantu said the man had marks on his shoulders from the heavy bundle he'd been carrying.

"Mules are forced to bring these packages across," added Cantu. "They may be illegal immigrants coming from other countries, they may be some people that work for them."

Border Patrol agents said it's too early to know why the man who got caught was carrying drugs. Cantu said the cartels are threatening illegals who want to cross, they either carry the drugs or die.

Cantu said his officers work very closely with Border Patrol agents. Both agencies back each other up because they never know when a situation could turn deadly.

A Border Patrol spokeswoman told us the Drug Enforcement Agency is now in charge of the drug seizure.

The only American Dream I am supporting is that they stop trying to flood my country with drugs, crime, poverty and ignorance.

Why not sue america for allowing the cartels too use those poor poor immigrants who want to sneak into our country..We make it so easy for them to be used and its our fault when the leader of our country does nothing about the immigration problems and they give them everything free its like giving a dog a bone, Someday they will sue for something along those lines.

It is convenient for the cartels to prey on these fools, they know they will not go to the police. They need to just stay home and make things work in Mexico.
