Texas lawyer convicted of laundering $600M for Mexican cartel

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A West Texas lawyer was found guilty on Monday of conspiring to launder hundreds of millions of dollars in drug money for a Mexican cartel.

Marco Delgado -- a former trustee at Carnegie Mellon University -- was accused of putting together a scheme to launder up to $600 million for the cartel, which has since been disbanded.


A jury convicted Delgado on Monday. He will be sentenced next month.

Delgado faces up to 20 years in prison.
