Immigration Crackdown
20 people arrested
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested 20 people in Schuyler as part of a week-long immigration crackdown that concluded Friday.

The arrests were the result of a broad operation that included residential searches.

Officials say the arrests were made through an Omaha-based fugitive operations team that has arrested more than 100 people since September.

A spokesman says at least three of the people arrested were ordered deported and one, 27-year-old Cecilio Diaz Romero, had a previous third-degree assault conviction.

The other 17 were believed to be illegal immigrants.

Sixteen of the 20 arrestees were from Guatemala; four were from Mexico.

Fourteen were men and six were women.
