U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: January 28 - February 3

(02/03/2010)Border Patrol agents seized over 16, 516 pounds of marijuana, 124.6 pounds of cocaine, 64.95 pounds of Ecstasy (MDMA), and 41.1 pounds of methamphetamine. Agents arrested 7 criminal aliens and 7 gang members. There were 7 rocking incidents.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near

El Indio, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mexican Mafia gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,230 pounds of marijuana, a 1999 Dodge pickup, a flatbed trailer, and arrested two United States Citizens (USC) near Laredo, Texas. After agents conducted a vehicle stop, a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search revealed the marijuana inside the trailer.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 53.4 pounds of cocaine, a Pontiac Aztec, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at a traffic checkpoint near Calexico, California. The subject presented herself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A search revealed the narcotics inside the vehicle.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,116 pounds of marijuana and a pickup truck near Sullivan City, Texas. The vehicle and narcotics were found abandoned.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,644 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Ford F-350 near Kaka, Arizona. Agents encountered the abandoned vehicle disabled in the desert with the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual battery in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized approximately one-half pound of marijuana, a loaded handgun, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A search revealed the marijuana and the 9mm Ruger handgun.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized three Colt AR-15 rifles, one AK-47 rifle, one 9mm Sig Sauer handgun, 24 high capacity magazines, a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, and arrested a USC near Roma, Texas.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ft. Hancock, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Latin Kings gang member. Records checks revealed he had a prior conviction for aggravated battery with a firearm in the State of Illinois and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape of a minor in the State of Idaho and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 5,548 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. Non-intrusive inspection technology detected an anomaly in the trailer and a search revealed the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,149 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. Non-intrusive inspection technology detected an anomaly in the trailer and a search revealed the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested seized 1,591 pounds of marijuana, recovered two stolen pickup trucks, and arrested a USC and an illegal alien from Mexico near Abram, Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Miguel, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – A Border Patrol agent was assaulted by a USC near Pearce, Arizona. The agent took the subject to the ground, handcuffed and arrested him. When the subject was brought to his feet, a loaded Taurus .357 magnum revolver was discovered on the ground where the subject had been lying.

San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 71.2 pounds of cocaine, a 2003 Ford truck, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near San Clemente, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A search revealed the cocaine concealed within the truck.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Both subjects claimed to have been robbed by three armed men in the mountains near Nogales. The case was referred to local law enforcement officials.

Blaine Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Canada and seized 64.95 pounds of Ecstasy (MDMA) near Sumas, Washington. Agents encountered the subject dressed in camouflage, carrying the contraband in a backpack.


Grand Forks Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at a bus station near Fargo, North Dakota. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Border Brothers prison gang. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history, to include eight prior felony convictions and had served two prison terms in the State of Texas. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Big Field, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual intercourse with a minor in the State of California, and that he had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,617 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search revealed the marijuana concealed within the trailer.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Camp Pendleton, California. Records checks revealed he was the subject of an active warrant for homicide in the State of California.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,346 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Toyota near Stanfield, Arizona. The driver of the Toyota failed to yield to agents, then abandoned the vehicle and absconded along with a passenger. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Benson, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.
