Ariz. — Federal authorities have arrested a man who allegedly tried to smuggle nearly 51 pounds of methamphetamine into Arizona from Mexico.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Dennis DeConcini Port in Nogales arrested the 67-year-old man Wednesday. His name wasn’t released, but authorities say he’s a U.S. citizen.

Officers say they found 35 packages of the drug hidden in the roof area of the man’s SUV during a secondary inspection. They say the meth has an estimated street value of $790,000.

The methamphetamine and vehicle were seized and the man arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security investigators.
