TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A Tucson man has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for his role in a human smuggling operation.
Prosecutors say 52-year-old Felizardo Soto-Soto entered a plea agreement Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Tucson and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport and harbor illegal immigrants.
The smuggling organization used shuttle vans services to transport illegal immigrants from Tucson to stash houses in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Prosecutors say Soto-Soto admitted to smuggling more than 100 illegal immigrants by shuttle vans from August 2007 until his arrest last April. He was paid up to $75 per person.
