Border Patrol shooting in central EP

EL PASO, TX. - Crews on both the U.S and Mexican side of the border are investigating an apparently deadly shooting involving a border patrol agent.

It all went down just before 9 p.m. last night near the Border Highway just east of Bowie High School. Border patrol officials say this is another case of undocumented immigrants first threatening a U.S. border patrol agent.

Spokesman Doug Mosier told ABC-7 earlier this morning that the agent confronted four men on the U.S. side of the border. The agent took one man into custody when another man in the group then threatened him with a rock and bolt cutters.

Mosier says the agent then fired at least one shot at the man. The agent wasn't hurt, but El Paso police officers on the scene tell ABC-7 that the man shot by the agent died from his gunshot wound. Border patrol won't confirm that, but our news partners at channel 44 in Ciudad Juarez tell us Mexican officials found the body of a 25-year-old man, dead from gunshot wounds.

As for the rest of the group of undocumented immigrants, ABC-7 was told they fled back into Mexico. El Paso police, CBP and the FBI are all investigating on this side, while Mexican federal police are investigating in Juarez.

Oh yeah right, like this is going to do any good. Do we honestly think the mexican federal police are going to do anything besides call johnny sutton to prosecute? We are not that stupid!

My daughter moved to Phoenix about 10 years ago and we have made many trips through El Paso. We used to spend the night there and shop the thrift stores.

Now we make sure we buy enough gas that we don't have to stop until way into New Mexico.
