Heroin, Cuban cigars and a 70-year-old drug smuggler were stopped at El Paso ports of entry last week, Customs and Border Protection officials said.
CBP officers found 11.3 pounds of heroin taped to the midsection, back and calves of Raymundo Garcia Morales, 31, of Juárez, who was traveling in a taxi at the Zaragoza Bridge on Thursday afternoon. Ten minutes later, another passenger in a taxi, Juan Raul Gonzalez Caballero, age unavailable, of Juárez, tried to come in the same bridge with 7.5 pounds of heroin taped to his body. Both men were arrested.

Last Sunday, a 70-year-old El Pasoan named Efrain Martinez Rodriguez allegedly drove a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker with 55.9 pounds of marijuana through the Paso Del Norte Bridge and was arrested. Wednesday afternoon, CBP officers at the Stanton Street Dedicated Commuter Lane seized 48 Cuban cigars concealed in the glove box of a vehicle being driven by a 38-year-old El Paso man. The cigars were seized and the man's DCL privileges were revoked.
