Attempted Burglars Turn Out to be Illegal Immigrants

SCHOFIELD - Two suspects arrested for attempting to break into a Schofield restaurant turn out to be illegal immigrants, accordint to the Everest Metropolitan Police Department.

Police were called to El Ranchito Restaurant just after midnight this morning when an employee was working late and heard someone trying to get in through a back door.

When officers arrived they found the suspects on the roof.

Seventeen-year-old Sergio-Bonilla and 27-year-old Jorge Bonilla-Huerta were arrested on attempted burglary charges.

Officers suspected the pair had counterfeit permanent resident cards.

They were interviewed with the help of a translator and admitted to being in the country illegally.

The U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on the suspects.

They're currently in the Marathon County Jail.
