U.S.Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: December 3 - December 9

(12/10/2009)Border Patrol agents seized over 8,311 pounds of marijuana and over 385 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 9 criminal aliens and 13 gang members. There were 5 rocking incidents.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 315 pounds of marijuana, a 2000 Dodge sedan, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Sullivan City, Texas. Agents observed a suspected narcotics load leaving an area near the Rio Grande River and followed it to a local residence, resulting in the arrests and seizures.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested three illegal aliens from Mexico and seized 2,119 pounds of marijuana near Pia Oik, Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued two illegal aliens from a canyon near Hereford, Arizona. One subject was treated on scene by emergency medical services and refused further medical attention. The second subject was transported to a local hospital where she was treated, for a fractured right finger and a sprained ankle, and then released. Both subjects were taken into Border Patrol custody following medical treatment.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico and seized 53 pounds of marijuana from a sugar sack that the alien was carrying near Del Rio, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mexican Mafia gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 385.18 pounds of cocaine, a 2005 Ford, a utility trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Westmoreland, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the conveyance. A search revealed 75 packages of cocaine inside the spare tire, audio speaker box and the trailer's tool box.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and had been previously removed from the United States.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Carrizo Springs, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sells, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Willcox, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Latin Kings gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal record and an arrest warrant for probation violation in the State of Illinois. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,137 pounds of marijuana and an abandoned 1991 Oldsmobile Silhouette near Havana, Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,016 pounds of marijuana and an abandoned 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe near Sonoita, Arizona.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,116 pounds of marijuana near Rincon, Texas. Agents observed a suspected narcotics smuggling vehicle near the Rio Grande River. The vehicle fled towards the river and the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle absconding into Mexico. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.


Swanton Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Haiti near Newport Center, Vermont. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous arrest record, was a member of the Top 6 gang, and is a suspected member of the Bloods gang.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Tombstone, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed extensive criminal and immigration histories, to include felony convictions for robbery, theft, and drug sales.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Fort Hancock, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for indecency with a child in the State of Texas and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,170 pounds of marijuana and a 1996 Ford Bronco near Pharr, Texas. Upon seeing agents, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded into Mexico. The narcotics were discovered inside the vehicle.


Tucson Sector – A Border Patrol agent and his canine partner were assaulted by an illegal alien from Honduras near Amado, Arizona. The subject, an MS-13 gang member, struck both the agent and his canine in the head with rocks, and absconded. Border Patrol agents searched the area and located the subject, resulting in his arrest.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents were assaulted by subjects throwing rocks near Calexico, California. The group started throwing rocks at agents as an illegal alien was being placed in a marked Border Patrol vehicle subsequent to arrest. Agents deployed the Pepperball Launching System and the group dispersed, retreating into Mexico.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a small amount of marijuana and a 1991 Oldsmobile, and arrested a USC and an illegal alien from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Bruni, Texas. The USC presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. Records checks revealed the USC had multiple drug convictions and was a member of the Mexican Mafia gang.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,385 pounds of marijuana and seized a 1998 Chevrolet Astro Van near Sullivan City, Texas. Agents observed subjects loading suspected contraband into the van near the Rio Grande River and attempted a vehicle stop. The driver turned south towards the river, abandoned the vehicle and absconded into Mexico. A search of the vehicle revealed 375 bricks of marijuana inside.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Jamul, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Eloy, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had prior arrests for rape, kidnapping and sodomy with force, and was a registered sex offender in the State of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico near Stanfield, Arizona. The subject fell into a canal after attempting to evade arrest and was pulled to safety by two agents.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for gross vehicle manslaughter while intoxicated in the State of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.
