Girl, 17, nabbed with 478 pounds of pot at El Paso border bridge







EL PASO, Texas Customs and Border Protection officers say they busted a car driven by a 17-year-old girl that contained almost 500 pounds of marijuana.

The seizure came last night while Customs officers were inspecting vehicles waiting to enter the United States on the Bridge of the Americas from Mexico. The inspections were part of an anti-terror operation.

Customs officials say that while officers interviewed the teen, who is a U-S citizens, a drug-sniffing dog alerted to the truck of the car she was driving. The agents opened the trunk and found 444 bundles of marijuana, weighing 478 pounds in all.

The girl was turned over to El Paso police for prosecution. Her name hasn't been released.

Customs officials say the seized pot has an estimated street value of 478-thousand dollars.
