Immigration probe involves National Guard project

A Missouri contractor says he is cooperating with federal investigators looking into whether he has employed illegal immigrants to work on a Missouri National Guard aviation facility in Springfield.

Greg Hoberock, the chief executive of hth Cos. Inc. of Union, said he used the federal government’s online E-Verify database to determine whether his employees can legally work in the U.S. but he said Citizen and Immigration Services investigators have asked to see the original federal I-9 employment verification documents for his approximately 30 employees at the National Guard hangar project.

“If there’s somebody there that’s not supposed to be in this country working, E-Verify should have identified them,â€
