Venga a Michigan: State of Michigan Urges Illegal Aliens to Come on Over

Governors, like California's Arnold Schwarzenegger, who won't get tough on illegal aliens are bad enough.

But then there are governors like Michigan's Jennifer Granholm a/k/a "The Governatrix Gran-HO" (along with Schwarzenegger, she's the nation's other Dating Game contestant governor). She's welcoming illegal aliens and urging them to come to Michigan.

State officials are trying to lure more migrant farm workers to Michigan to avoid labor shortages, which they say hurt the last harvest by the state's agriculture industry. To address the "problem," the State of Michigan is spending tax money on a marketing pitch: "Venga a Michigan" (Spanish for "Come to Michigan").

And State of Michigan officials visited Texas, last week, to invite unemployed Hispanic illegal aliens there to come here to Michigan to find work.

And by the way, the State of Michigan consulted with illegal alien interest groups on how to best market Michigan's state-funded "social services":

The goal was "to promote Michigan agriculture and the various services available," Rick Olivarez, a state monitor advocate, said during a meeting this week of the Michigan Interagency Migrant Services Committee.

At the same time, The Governatrix Gran-HO is proposing a 2% service tax to pay for state services. Since we don't pay enough to pay for illegal aliens using these services, she's spending our money to invite more.

Strangely, none of this was in the two major Detroit papers. I had to read about it in a tiny, micro-print blurb on the back pages of USA Today.

I saw this yesterday. This is pretty blatant. I'm sure if the election she just won in November was held today, it wouldn't be such a shoo-in.

I was born and raise in Michigan.
Where I lived, illegal immigrants were unknowns. We all did or own farming.

Now, this is not meant to offend anyone, but, it`s a shame to see how alot of people from the most recent generations are,, how should I say this without offense?,,,"afraid to get their hands dirty.

I know this must be legal but I have to ask....IS THIS LEGAL???

Totally agree, mkfarnam, but the problem is compounded with the fact that these jobs (AG, Construction, Landscaping, etc) are not paid enough. This is what caused me to leave construction. My wages staggered for years while competing against boat people coming into SFLA

What nerve for a governor who is SUPPOSED to be representing the citizens of Michigan, to blatantly invite illegal aliens to live and work there, and using taxpayers money to boot! Why doesn't she just slap a few Americans around while shes at it? She doesn't deserve the job.

I think it it is about time for the people of some of these states to stand and tell their governors it our way or the highway, if they continue to do things that hurt american citizens, throw thier dumb back sides out of office.

Maybe the people in Michigan don't care!! All I know is nothing is going to change unless people at the state level don't stand up and say we are not going to take it anymore, it is our state and we want it back! start getting rid of the offending officials!! I'll bet things will start changing. Politicians will also be more carefull about saying one thing during elections and doing another once in office.

Michigan and California would be a good place to start!!

AHHH!! And I see the side walk is kept nice and clean so as the town looks like people care about it!!

In my town this business would not get away with the front of the store looking like this, business owners still sweep and clean several times a week in front of their store, thats why we still look like an American city with pride.
