PRO Illegal Protest Against Border Patrol in Laguna Beach

Border Patrol has FINALLY cracked down on SANCTUARY CITY, Laguna Beach!

Why did we stop doing protests in this town? This woman "Mary Dolphin" is an x-hippie type. She's very haggish. If you go to this protest make sure you get pictures of her, so you can show your grandchildren what happens to you if you become a hippie. She will scare them to death!

Protest planned in Laguna Beach over immigration checks
    By SALVADOR HERNANDEZ

LAGUNA BEACH – Citing recent immigration checks and rumors that more checks might occur this week, some local residents said they will be handing out information packets Thursday so that people are aware of their rights if they are stopped by border patrol agents.
Police and residents said border patrol agents have been spotted at the city's bus depot checking the immigration status of passengers on at least three different occasions, with the most recent reported June 4. Some local residents said they've heard rumors that an immigration checkpoint may be set up in the city Friday, and they are planning a morning demonstration to protest the presence of border patrol officers in Laguna Beach.
Workers at the city's day laborer site, located along Laguna Canyon Road, said four men who regularly look for work at the site were detained and deported while they were on their way to the site, and the incident has frightened some workers away.
While roughly 50 workers regularly show up at the site looking for work at about 6 a.m., about 20 fewer men have been showing up at the site since the immigrations checks were first reported, site manager Irma Ronses said.
Workers are not required to prove their residency status at the site, and many of the men there admit to being in the country illegally. The center has been a hot point of contention in the city, with anti-illegal-immigration activists asking city officials to shut down the site.
Meanwhile, some residents are planning a demonstration at the city's bus depot Friday morning to protest the recent immigration checks, using word of mouth and Facebook as means to inform people about the event.
Gilberto Salgado, a 34-year-old man who regularly goes to the site to look for work, said many workers rely on bus service to get to the site. Those who drive their own vehicles are also afraid of being stopped, he said.
With rumors that Border Patrol agents will be in the city Friday morning, most day laborers are deciding to stay home that day, Salgado said, just in case.
"You can't take it just as rumor, because it already happened," said Alfonso Martinez, a 28-year-old regular at the site.
Both Salgado and Martinez said they are in the country illegally and they won't be at the center Friday.
Mary Dolphin, a resident of Laguna Beach, said she and several other people will be at the bus depot at 3:30 p.m. Thursday handing out information to passengers, letting them know what to do if they are stopped by border patrol agents, she said. For example, people don't have to answer whether they are citizens or not if they are questioned, Dolphin said, citing information from the National Immigration Law Center.
"The whole thing is very disturbing," Dolphin said. "It breeds fear."
Jean Raun, a member of the League of Women Voters, said she and others plan to protest the immigration checks at the bus depot, 375 Broadway.
"This is a town that cares about people," Raun said.
Because of the recent checks, Salgado said several workers have avoided waiting for the bus near the depot. Instead, people are waiting at businesses nearby and approach the depot only when their bus nears.
Michael Jimenez, a Border Patrol public affairs officer, said U.S. Customs and Border Protection doesn't announce ahead of time when agents will be conducting immigration checks.
Because of an increase of maritime smuggling in California, where immigrants make their way to the U.S. by sea, border patrol agents have been, and will be, more present in beach cities along the coast, Jimenez said.
In California, border patrol agents monitor about 90 miles of coastline, he said. Laguna Beach is located about 85 miles from the U.S. Mexico Border.
'Agents are going to find where (immigrants) are being unloaded," Jimenez said.
During the 2008-09 fiscal year, border patrol logged 49 maritime incidents with 400 apprehensions, Jimenez said. So far this year, the agency has reported 64 incidents and 568 apprehensions.
Raun said the demonstration is scheduled for Friday morning, whether a check takes place or not.
"I'll be there with a sign anyway," she said.

This is great news! According to a reliable source, the BP WILL be coming back to the city's day laborer site a few more times. They didn't tell me when, but it sounds as if it's going to be a routine action from here on out.

If I were an illegal invader, I would get the hell out of town...pronto...

    So enforcement

While roughly 50 workers regularly show up at the site looking for work at about 6 a.m., about 20 fewer men have been showing up

So enforcement has decreased illegal aliens breaking the law working in our nation by 40% already?

    Hey, enforcement works....Snap

At this rate it will just take less than a year deporting and them leaving at the same time.

No sign of Laguna Beach immigration checks
    By SALVADOR HERNANDEZ
    2010-06-25 12:13:27

LAGUNA BEACH – Rumors that Border Patrol agents would be conducting immigration checks at the city's main roads Friday turned out to be false.

However, about 20 people demonstrated at the city's bus depot, protesting recent checks there, participants said.

Border Patrol agents have been spotted at the city's bus depot at least three times in recent weeks, checking the immigration status of passengers, with the most recent incident reported on June 4. Because of an increase of maritime smuggling incidents, Border Patrol officials have said they plan a stronger presence in beach cities to deter illegal immigrants from crossing the border by sea.

A group of about 20 protesters gathered at the city's bus depot Friday at about 7 a.m. to protest the recent checks, participants said. Rumors had circulated that officials would be conducting immigration checks Friday as well, but there was no sign of agents Friday morning.

Beverly Ronses, a 17-year-old student at Laguna Beach High School, said she helped out pass out fliers to passengers at the bus depot Thursday afternoon and was among the demonstrators Friday morning.

By about 8:30 a.m., the small group of protesters began to disperse.

Mary Dolphin, a resident of Laguna Beach, said the protest was organized when rumors of additional immigration checks began to circulate in the community.

The bus depot is located less than a mile from the city's day laborer site – a hot button with local residents and activists when it comes to the debate over illegal immigration. Day laborers gather at the Laguna Canyon Road site to look for work. Their citizenship status is not checked at the site and many of them admit to being undocumented.

Many of the laborers there use buses to arrive at the site. Because of the rumors of pending checks, many of them did not show up at the center Friday. About 50 day laborers arrive at the center every weekday, but Irma Ronses, manager of the center, said only about 10 showed up Friday morning. Irma Ronses is the mother of Beverly Ronses.

Michael Jimenez, a Border Patrol public affairs officer, said U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials expect to patrol more often along beach cities located within 90 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. In the last two years, he said, officials have seen immigrants crossing the border through the ocean more frequently.

In 2008, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded 33 incidents of immigrants entering the country along the California coast by boat. In 2009 there were 49 incidents, and so far this year there have already been 64 incidents, he said.

So far this year, 568 people have been detained after attempting to enter the country by boat in California, he said.

Something has seriously gone awry in this country when people are protesting law enforcement officials as they enforce this nation's laws. The only ones who could possibly have a problem are those who are in violation of the law, or know someone who's in violation of the law.

Please tell me the rich elitists of LAGUNA BEACH haven't gone out on their own to warn the illegal aliens?

Oh wait, no they sent their other illegal alien workers to do it.

    Yeah, that makes sense.

I'm actually proud that someone in Laguna Beach is taking a stand against illegal aliens.

    Good for them.

Shame on those who are fighting the American efforts to fight against the illegal aliens.

Truth is that it's cheaper to fight ALL of the illegal aliens to get them out of the country - with a closed border - than to pay them USA tax dollars.

That savings alone could save Californian tax payers enough to pay off their state's debt.
