Democrats won't stop drivers license verification bill, Reid says

What absolute nerve........just listen to this arguement!

If this bill passes we will have a foot firmly planted. However, imho, I believe that the Congress thinks that this will "shut up" most people by lulling them into a false sense of security. We'll need to put on the pressure so that they understand this is NOT GOING AWAY.

Immigration advocates say the bill is mean-spirited and targets millions of legal immigrants. They said it would prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining a drivers license, forcing them to drive unlicensed and uninsured.

They are already driving with fake license, and in states where you have to have insurance, they drop it after one month.

State officials argue the bill would cost millions of dollars to put into effect and turn state motor vehicle clerks into immigration agents.

Cheye Calvo, an analyst with the National Conference of State Legislatures, said the bill would force states to verify the authenticity of passports, green cards, birth certificates and other documents presented by drivers license applicants.

"The requirements are just unworkable," Calvo said.

Notice it is always unworkable and will cost millions.

Think of all the phony license we could weed out with a system to verify authenticity of documents.

You can't tell me the greatest Nation that can put a man on the moon can't come up with something workable.

How did we "all of sudden" loose all of our brain power.
