Federal immigration agents make arrests in Arcadia
Hispanic people we talked to say when immigration agents come to town they bring fear to their entire community

Federal agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested people in Trempealeau County Tuesday.

In a statement e-mailed to WEAU 13 News, ICE Spokeswoman Gail Montenegro said “ICE is making arrests in Arcadia as part of an ongoing enforcement action. I want to emphasize that ICE is targeting specific individuals and is not making random arrests.â€

Only criminals should fear ICE. So what is the problem here? Is it terrorism for criminals to fear law enforcement?

I've been targeting this state, in particular, because of a certain employer in the region who had (in the past been employing illegal immigrants)... the company recently laid off hundreds of illegal immigrants because of (let's just say, "pressure from a very powerful relative")...

I'm very happy that ICE is finally listening and will continue to ensure LEGAL American workers are hired at this employer site.

I don't know, personally, who Emma Hanson is, but I know what she is. She is the bane of American freedom. One of the "bleeding hearts" who looks at an illegal and comes out with the "Oh, if you look into their eyes" sentimentality that helps the greedy employers maintain their profit margins by hiring the illegals.

She is one of America's greatest enemies, an unconscious Fifth Columnist. A person who makes all her judgments through emotions. If she were in a life boat, she would want to let everyone in with her and would not realize the danger until she was in the water herself.

How does Arcadia get so lucky as to get some enforcement from the feds? I know where there are illegals working on a construction site in my area making over $20 per hour and even if you call and report it they do nothing. This while construction work has slowed down tremendously around here. They sent the American guys home laid off when the work got slow and kept the illegals working.

We need very strict enforcement on this issue all over this country. These employers need to go to prison for a long long time. This has been going on way too long and the American People are getting REALLY SICK AND TIRED OF IT.

read Patrick Buchanans book "State of Emergency". the laws are'nt being enforced because politicians especially the democrats realize that by not enforcing the law and then giving them amnesty they create a subservient UNDERCLASS that will vote for them to administer WELFARE SERVICES.and this despite the crime, disease, drugs, etc. that this element brings to our country. it's pretty sick. Eisenhower sent them packing back in 1954 but since then they have gained control of the political process even though a majority of Americans are against it. (ex. prop 187 in california ). in other words your wishes and votes no longer matter. I'm sorry.

ICE says arrests targeted, not random

ARCADIA — Federal immigration officials say arrests made in Arcadia this week were targeted at specific individuals and not the result of a random sweep of the community.


Word of the arrests spread quickly in the Trempealeau County community of 2,400.



U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Gail Montenegro tells the La Crosse Tribune that agents are making arrests, but she won't say whether any arrests related to immigration status.


Several years ago, Arcadia Mayor John Kimmel had created a furor in town and drew widespread media attention when he proposed an "illegal alien task force." He wanted to forward complaints to federal authorities, hold property owners accountable for renting to, or allowing someone to live in the city illegally, make English the official language and penalize business that employ undocumented workers.
