The Ted Kennedy Memorial Immigration Act?

The Ted Kennedy Memorial Immigration Act?
    -Marcus Epstein

I would not be surprised if some patriotic immigration reformers privately feel some schadenfreude over Ted Kennedy’s terminal cancer. Kennedy, of course, was the chief sponsor of the 1965 Immigration Act where he falsely promised, [b]“First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same… Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset.â€

I'll tell you what the difference is...John Kennedy was a patriot, Ted Kennedy is a traitor!

Wow, I thought of this the other night, after I heard Kennedy's diagnosis. Oh brother.

Democrats are riding the wave of a coalition---one which now is quite a lot broader and more inclusive than the coalition of FDR's day. That coalition, unfortunately, has developed a mind of its own and liberal politicians have fostered their own catchphrases and jargon. This coalition has powerful components--like the Roman Catholic Church, labor unions, academics. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they do attempt some memorial or honorary immigration Act, in Kennedy's memory.

We will just have to vigorously call the US Congress again and again. With the religious fervor that liberals now possess they will certainly be very emotional and compelled if Kennedy goes. Well, many other Americans die of cancer every year. Our sympathies, indeed...but life goes on.
