Rental ban cases to cost Farmers Branch nearly $500,000 more

The Farmers Branch City Council will spend nearly a half-million dollars more to cover the cost of legal fees incurred by two groups that have challenged the city’s ordinances on illegal immigration.

Since 2006 to Tuesday’s council decision, the city has spent about $2 million on legal fees related to illegal immigration.

Mayor Tim O’Hare and attorney Pete Smith declined to comment on the mediated settlement of $250,000 with the Villas at Parkside Partners and $220,000 with Alfredo Vasquez and the American Civil Liberties Union.

“We are grateful to have settled the matter of attorneys’ fees in our first case against the city of Farmers Branch. Now we can concentrate on current litigation,â€

In other words the ACLU feels Farmers Branch needs to be serving the illegal aliens instead of expelling them

Governments should be insuring each other against the malicious punitive actions brought against them by MALDEF and ACLU for enforcing the rights of their citizens against illegal immigration.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

That's an intriguing idea! I wonder if there is a way to create municipal (or state) laws giving some civil immunity to places that create laws meant to protect citizens and legal residents. I bet there could!

This is pathetic, it should be quite simple....it is against the law to harbor, aid or abett illegal aliens...law of the land, what do they not understand about this???

In other words, American citizens are paying the ACLU legal fees so they can advocate on behalf of illegal invaders.

Farmers Branch should look into the recent ruling from CA. 9th circuit about states having the right to federal enforce immigration laws and their own.

Do you have a link to that ruling, so I can send the link to Tim O'Hare?

I'm sick of seeing signs all over FB advocating LULAC member Elizabeth Villafranka (sp?) for City Council, with tag line, "Protecting Your Tax Dollars." (Gag!)

So far, even with these lawsuits, I don't believe I've seen my taxes raise AT ALL, or if they have, they're so miniscule that I don't notice.

Got a letter in the mail from Elizabeth's supporters, claiming that the taxes will raise by 20% of the bond issue passes. I doubt it, as EVERY single letter these people have sent out in any of the failed political campaigns have contained TONS of LIES about numbers and money spent. So I can see this being a letter chock full of lies again.

The tax dollars would NOT be going to waste if it weren't for the ACLU and their supporters!! They're they ones who want to bankrupt the city!!!
