Deputies: 28 Pounds of Marijuana Found in Rowan County

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP)—
A Mooresville man was arrested after detectives found 28 pounds of marijuana, eight grams of cocaine and two handguns at his home on Tuesday.

Julio Cesar Jaramillo Cruz, 26, has been charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to sell marijuana and cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, possessing of a firearm by a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.


The arrest comes after the Rowan County Sheriff's Office searched Cruz's home at 440 Meadow Lane as part of a drug investigation.

Deputies said Cruz is a convicted felon and illegally re-entered the U.S. after being deported. He was convicted of possessing a schedule IV drug and maintaining a drug dwelling in October 2007.

Cruz received a $100,000 secured bond and deputies said Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified.


All his current charges are felonies except for possession of drug paraphernalia, which is a misdemeanor.

Deputies said a mugshot of the suspect has not yet been made available.
