EL PASO, Texas -- Wind-blasted and hungry protesters took on the weather and immigration policy Thursday as they walked from the Chamizal National Memorial to the Plaza downtown.

As KFOX reported Wednesday night, many have been on a two-day hunger strike to protest the U.S. policy on immigration.

The Border Human Rights Network said the current policy criminalizes immigrants who come to the U.S. to work and feed their families.

The walk was several miles long and was hard on those who vowed to feel the same hunger pangs many immigrants endure in their trip to this country. Thursday’s march coincided with a number of national protests over immigration policies. The groups chose Thursday because it's International Labor Day.
