Mexican legislators travel to AZ to complain about new law

Legislators from Mexican State Angry at Influx of...Mexicans

Can you believe the nerve of these people? Nine state legislators from the Mexican state of Sonora traveled to Tucson to complain about Arizona's new employer crackdown on illegals from Mexico. It seems many Mexican illegals are now returning to their hometowns and the officials in the Sonora state government are ticked:

A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday to say Arizona's new employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.
At a news conference, the legislators said Sonora - Arizona's southern neighbor, made up of mostly small towns - cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers here return to their hometowns without jobs or money.

The law, which took effect Jan.1, punishes employers who knowingly hire individuals who don't have valid legal documents to work in the United States. Penalties include suspension or loss of a business license

They're pissed off because their own citizens are returning to their hometowns, placing a huge burden on their state government. This lady has some serious balls:

They want to tell them how the law will affect Mexican families on both sides of the border
"How can they pass a law like this?" asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano Gamez, who represents Nogales.

"There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona," she said in Spanish.

"Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems" it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs, she said.

"We are one family, socially and economically," she said of the people of Sonora and Arizona.

Wrong. The United States is a sovereign nation and its states and its citizens are not responsible for the welfare of Mexico's citizens. It's time for the Mexican government to stop parasitically feeding off of the United States and start taking care of its own citizens.

Hat tip: Bryan at Hot Air.

But I thought Calederon called them "Mexico's treasure"?

They call Mexican citizens residing illegally in the US..hard workers who contribute to our economy. Now they say these same "treasures" returning home to Mexico, they are a burden on THEIR government?

We care about as much as the Mexican government cares when millions of their citizens come here with NO jobs or money and expect us to subsidize them while they multiply like jack rabbits!

So again, what seems to be the problem? These hard working citizens of Mexico are returning to their beloved homeland. They can get jobs at any of the thousands of US companies that moved to Mexico. Problems solved.

    Unbelievable

I am a 35 year old US citizen. I have been working overseas for the past few years and married a woman from central asia. We now have a baby girl who was born in the same indiana hospital that I was, and last June my wife took our little girl to her home country to visit family and to begin immigration proceedings for herself and my two stepdaughters. After recieving no help from the US embassy in the country in question, they not only denied visas for my stepdaughters, but also revoked my wife's US visa thereby preventing her from being able to return home with my AMERICAN CHILD(she has her passport, birth certificate, and Social Security number and everything). In my correspondance with my "elected officials" it has been made abundantly clear that they simply do not give a damn. On March 28 I will have missed most of my infant daughter's first year and her first birthday, not to mention the incredible strain this has put on my marriage, so if there is anyone out there who is in the same boat or who knows something I don't, please speak up!!! I'm sick to death of all these freeloading scumbags who do nothing but drive down wages and bring their 3rd world bullcrap into our great nation.
If nothing else then just share this story with others and let them know what happens when you try to abide by the law and excercise your freedoms.

Please don’t get mad at us. We didn’t create this problem of mass illegal immigration. With millions violating our laws, it makes it imposable to let even one more case “slideâ€

    well stated

I appreciate the consice nature of your commentary. You're very right in pointing out in which direction my hatred should be directed. There's nothing like a friend to grab your arm before you bloody the wrong person's nose. Fortunately enough, I have in the last few weeks finally managed to secure a telephone conversation with a staff member of one of my "elected officials" and with carefully worded requests laced with a bit of diplospeak actually have begun to make progress. In the first place, as I had explained to the esteemed gentleman's assistant that it was not my wish to curry special favor in regards to the timeliness of their arrival in the U.S., but only to inquire as to how the case was proceeding. Once again, thank you for your kind words as they really DID make a difference. More than you will ever know.

    MrBooch,

This sounds like something you should bring up with your US Congressman and/or Senator. They can help you facilitate and cut through the red tape of the USCIS. Sounds like your story is legit and they will help you.

Best of luck reuniting your family,

P.s. My siblings have been waiting over 15 years now for approval. They have given up. So I know how you feel.

Mexico needs to take care of their poor citizens with money from their billionaire class and govt. that really isn't in debt like the USA. Time for them to just agree with us on the burden of their own.
