Swift plant manager draws year’s probation

A Marshalltown meatpacking plant manager has been put on probation for one year and will help federal authorities prosecute others who harbored illegal workers rounded up in a 2006 immigration raid.

Swift & Co. human resources manager Christopher Todd Lamb, 37, must also pay $300 in fines and court costs as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors, according to papers filed in federal court. Lamb signed the agreement in August 2007, but the deal was not approved until Tuesday.

The agreement requires Lamb to “fully cooperate with the government in its investigationâ€
