Bodies burned beyond recognition

MONTE ALTO - The Hidalgo County Sheriff says two people found burned beyond recognition were killed because of a drug deal.

The victims were found in a car in July. Investigators had to wait for DNA results to identify the two victims.

Today deputies identified the men as Jaime Delgado and Eric Lopez.

Officers tell NEWSCHANNEL 5 the men were beaten in a north Edinburg warehouse and then they were put in a car and driven to Monte Alto. That's where they were shot and burned.

"We have reason to believe the murder was a dispute over cocaine transaction," says Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino.

He says Hugo Cesar Delgado is behind the murders. We're told he's most likely in Mexico.

Deputies are also looking for Tomas Vargas Jasso, who is a person of interest.

If you've seen either man, you're asked to call Hidalgo County Crimestoppers at 668-TIPS.
