CARMEL, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have accused 6 men of drug trafficking after an investigation of street-level cocaine sales in a New York City suburb.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says 4 of the men lived in the village of Brewster and 2 others had Hyattsville, Maryland addresses. Sheriff Donald Smith says the 5-month investigation shows the cocaine had been delivered to Putnam from a dealer in Maryland.

The four men from Brewster were charged with criminal sale and possession of narcotics. The men from Maryland were charged with first-degree criminal sale of narcotics.

Authorities say the 6 men are suspected of being in the country illegally from Guatemala. The men are being held without bail. They have been reported to federal immigration officials.
