Texas-Mexico Border: Perry Thanks National Guard

Applauds Texas men & women for service to Texas, the nation

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today thanked the men and women of the Texas National Guard for their sacrifices in protecting our citizens by keeping order both abroad and in the state. The governor spoke at the National Guard Association of Texas (NGAT) Annual Conference, where he underscored the importance of the National Guard to the state’s border security efforts, and reiterated his ongoing requests for additional federal resources to secure the Texas-Mexico Border.

In the absence of adequate federal resources to secure the state’s southern border, the governor has repeatedly urged the federal government, through letters to President Barack Obama, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, to approve his request for 1,000 Title 32 National Guardsmen to support civilian law enforcement efforts to enhance border security in Texas.

Additionally, the governor has a request for predator drones to be based in and operate Texas-Mexico borderover the Texas-Mexico border to provide essential information to law enforcement on the ground.

    money

now, in all honesty, I wont claim to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, and sometimes I can be a little slow on the uptake

but I hear, and see all these numbers on the costs of illegal aliens, but somehow, I doubt it includes the cost of things like predator drones, and all these otehr costs to keep them out

I bet if we actually had a secure border, we wouldnt have to worry about the millions out of work right now

    The Cost

The Cost of Illegal Immigration SHOULD include Border security, internal enforcement, the money and jobs lost by American workers (incalculable really) the internal racial strife and divisiveness that its causing, the new healthcare takeover/sham, etc etc. The list goes on and on

The total costs make our national debt look like a tip at the local diner for a tuna sammich and a cup o tea...lol

If good old Rick Perry is truly interested in protecting the Texas-Mexico border then why doesn't he use his powers to put the Texas National Guard on the border? This is just more political postering.

The state legislature has to approve the funds to put the National Guard there, which they have in the recent past but the funds run out so that's why Perry keeps begging Obama and Napolitano to do their jobs and protect Americans.

The funds have run out, the State budget is in a huge shortfall, yet we keep handing out more and more money to entitlement programs for illegal aliens. Seems there is something our State can do besides beg for help from an administration bound and determined to ruin this country. We put people in our State government to figure out this stuff and they do nothing but turn down sensable legislation. Makes no sense to me.
