A Southmost trucker is behind bars after authorities found more than 3,000 pounds of pot hidden in his 18-wheeler.

U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Ivan Galvan at the Sarita checkpoint on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Southmost man drove his 18-wheeler through the checkpoint.

A K-9 officer allegedly detected an unusual odor coming from inside the trailer.

A criminal complaint shows that Border Patrol agents allegedly found about 3,064 pounds of marijuana inside.

Federal court records show that ICE agents took over the investigation after the seizure.

Public records show that Galvan's last known address was off La Plaza Drive in the Southmost area of Brownsville.

Galvan appeared U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Felix Recio on Monday morning.

Judge Recio denied bond for Galvan until a Thursday afternoon hearing.
