Sheriff, commissioners disagree on turning in illegal immigrants

Forsyth County commisÂ*sionÂ*ers and Sheriff Bill Schatzman are in a standoff about whether the county needs a new program to counter illegal immigration.
The commissioners recently decided to apply for a federal program that trains local law-enforcement officials to screen peopleÂ

Gloria Whisenhunt (R) Chairwoman of the Forsyth County N.C. Board of Commissioners says you are lazy and living off the government!
(The board's chairwoman.) Implied that it would be difficult to find a construction company that does not hire illegal immigrants and we would never be able to build the schools, and if we could, it would cost us double what we pay now.

But that's not the first time Gloria has stuck her foot in her mouth.

“Can I do anything about illegal immigration, not much, Gloria Whisenhunt said. I talk to people that hire illegal immigrants and they tell me that they are the best workers they’ve ever had and they have a very strong work ethic.
“People say we have Americans who will take these jobs, Whisenhunt said. “I don’t believe that because Americans are lazy, Americans are living off the government, and we pay them to stay home and have babies!


What about the hard working citizens of Forsyth County North Carolina who go to work every day and pay taxes. They just don't count in Gloria's book.

This is an issue which may have great impact on the future of our children and grandchildren.
