    Border Patrol agents seized over 8,010 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested 12 criminal aliens and 14 gang members. There were two rocking incidents.

    *This overview is compiled from incidents reported to the Office of Border Patrol and is not intended to reflect all Border Patrol enforcement actions. Most arrests and seizures fail to meet the requirements for mandatory reporting to the Office of Border Patrol.


    Reported on July 28, 2011


    El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Westmorland, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for sex abuse and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Hebbronville, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for possession of a controlled substance and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Brownsville, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Texas for aggravated sexual assault of a child and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,392 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Suburban near Hidalgo, Texas. Agents observed several subjects illegally enter the United States carrying bundles of suspected narcotics. As the subjects were loading the bundles into the vehicle, they saw agents approaching and absconded into Mexico. The marijuana was found in the abandoned vehicle.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,718 pounds of marijuana near La Casita, Texas. Agents received a report that marijuana was located in a local cemetery and responded to investigate. The marijuana was discovered in the cemetery.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,150 pounds of marijuana near Rio Grande City, Texas. Agents discovered the marijuana hidden under a tarp in the brush.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sells, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,047 pounds of marijuana near Sonoita, Arizona. Agents and their Border Patrol canine partners discovered the marijuana abandoned in the brush.

    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near South Komelik, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for spousal abuse and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Miguel, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of Oregon for attempted murder and carry/use of a dangerous weapon.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of California for possession of a controlled substance for sale involving a firearm, and that he had been previously removed from the United States.


    Reported on July 30, 2011


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued and arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Mission, Texas. The subject was found unconscious and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The subject was treated and released into Border Patrol custody.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Picacho, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the MS-13 gang and records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


    Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a handgun, a Chevrolet truck, and arrested a national of Mexico near Van Horn, Texas. Agents discovered the handgun concealed in the vehicle. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history.

    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,459 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


    San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Jacumba, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for receiving stolen property and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Benson, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang member who had been previously removed from the United States.

    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Washington for rape and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Bisbee, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang who had been previously removed from the United States.


    Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 244 pounds of marijuana near San Luis, Arizona. Agents received a report of a suspected ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion and responded to a suspected narcotics drop zone. At the drop zone, agents recovered the marijuana. The ULA was observed returning to Mexican airspace.

Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance for sale and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction in the state of Texas for indecency with a child and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang and records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – A Border Patrol agent was assaulted by a group of illegal aliens near Patagonia, Arizona. The agent was attempting to arrest the group when they assaulted him. The agent was able to subdue several of the subjects and place them under arrest.

    Not so very secure is it?
