U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: (09/29/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 6,962 pounds of marijuana and 146 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 3 criminal aliens and 7 gang members. There were 10 rocking incidents.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being an active member of the Paisa gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,277 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Ford pickup truck near Mission, Texas. Agents observed several subjects carrying bundles to the pickup truck near the Rio Grande River. Upon seeing the agents, the driver of the pickup truck drove toward the river and all subjects absconded into Mexico. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Rio Grande City, Texas.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents detained a male United States Citizen (USC) near Batesville, Texas. The subject was accompanied by an unrelated 13-year-old female USC. Records checks revealed the male USC had a prior arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child and was the subject of a warrant of arrest as a violent sexual predator. The subject was detained until local law enforcement arrived and assumed custody of the case.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico who claimed he was robbed by armed gunmen in Mexico near La Rumorosa, Baja California, Mexico. The subject claimed the gunmen took cell phones and money from the group he was traveling with, and shot two individuals for failing to comply with their demands. The case was referred to the appropriated agencies for further investigation.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in El Paso, Texas. The subject resisted arrest and assaulted one of the arresting agents. The subject was subdued and taken into custody. During a search of his person, agents discovered the subject was in possession of a “Taserâ€
