    ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A spokesman says Atlanta's safety net hospital is talking to private clinics about extending dialysis treatment for more than three dozen indigent patients, many of them illegal immigrants.

Grady Memorial Hospital spokesman Matt Gove says the hospital is hopeful an agreement will be reached by Wednesday when the current agreement expires.

Budget cuts forced Grady to close its outpatient dialysis clinic nearly two years ago. Grady paid for patient treatment at private clinics through the end of last August and then reached an agreement with private providers to share costs through the end ofthis August.

Gove says massive budget cuts mean Grady can no longer share those costs.

The patients need regular dialysis two or three times a week to survive.

I suggest the illegals go back to their home countries and ask for free treatment. First sign of an illness, they jump the border and get free medical care courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.

Some of them jump the border just to get free medical care coutesy of the US taxpayer. US Taxpayer should not be forced to pay for medical care for illegal immigrants - stabilize and deport them.

Hospitals are too lenient about not enquiring into the citizenship of patients - and perhaps fingerprinting those unable to pay . If I were unable to pay the hospital would be in court for a judgement - they should pursue these illegals the same way.
