    Illegals ignoring U.S. sovereignty

    To the editor:

The recent “raid” which resulted in the arrests of numerous alleged criminals has prompted a vigorous dialog throughout the community. There have been emotional arguments generated on both sides of the issue. However, the facts in the matter bear consideration, and if the facts sustain the actions of the officers, the clearly defined requirements of the law must be carried out.

It has been reported that the arrested individuals entered this nation illegally. In addition, it has been reported that many, if not all, of the arrested individuals stole the identities of other Americans or fraudulently obtained identities through forgery or other means. These actions are serious crimes. The rights of American citizens were violated by these actions, and if the charges are true, it is likely that other financial burdens have been heaped upon the individuals whose identities were stolen, as well as upon society in general.

Many argue that the laws are “unfair,” or that America should be open to all who wish to come here. Few know that the United States currently has an immigration policy which is arguably the most liberal in the world. In fact, the United States currently welcomes more legal immigrants each year than virtually ALL of the other nations of the world combined. It is a well recognized fact throughout the nations of the world that sovereign nations have the right to protect their borders, and to establish the policies defining legal entry into the nation. Contrary to philosophies which are being widely promoted, no right to migrate across international boarders exists. Each nation is fully within its right to establish a policy which meets its requirements. Thomas Jefferson stated: “But no law has restrained the right of the nation itself from removing by its own arm, intruders on its possessions.” (Bergh, The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, Volume 12, p.383)

In spite of many recent speeches by the most senior officials of Mexico in which they chasten the United States and demand more open access to the United States, Mexico has very stringently enforced regulations limiting foreign migration into their nation, including “militarizing” their southern border to prevent illegal immigration from other, poorer, countries to their south.

Depending upon which estimate you believe, an illegal alien army of between 12 million and 30 million people who have no intention of ever leaving the United States has invaded this nation. Currently, between 40,000 and 80,000 illegal aliens are entering through our southern border each week. A map indicating the locations of the recent nationwide raids testifies of the dispersion of these illegals. They are spread throughout the entire nation, and the challenges they bring to the social fabric of the United States are epidemic. Countless billions of dollars are drained from the nation as our citizens are burdened with the costs of additional crime, prison facilities, medical care, educational costs, welfare services, etc. Many say it is brutal to deport these people who have no respect for the sovereignty of our nation, or our laws. We must remind ourselves that they are not being sent to a gulag. They are being sent HOME. And there is no reason for families to be separated by this action. It makes perfect sense to have families accompany their loved ones back to their native land.

    I wholeheartedly agree.
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".
