A Mexican immigrant who was rescued from drowning last month in Dormont died this morning in Mercy Hospital.

An autopsy is scheduled today for Noe Lopez-Vilchis, 32.

Mr. Lopez-Vilchis and three Mexican companions had been swimming on the afternoon of July 20 at the Dormont Pool when a teenage lifeguard saw him motionless under the water.

Lifeguards pulled him out and revived him enough that he was alive when he was taken to Mercy Hospital.

He and his companions had been in the United States illegally, Allegheny County police said. The men shared a small apartment in Scott.

The other three were taken into custody by the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, formerly Immigration and Naturalization.

Mr. Lopez-Vilchis was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m. in Mercy Hospital, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office reported
