Librarian charged with being illegal alien

Published: July 30, 2008 at 3:36 PMGRAHAM, N.C., July 30 (UPI) -- A North Carolina librarian who allegedly lived illegally in the United States since she was a toddler has been charged with using a fake Social Security number.

Marxavi Angel Martinez, 23, was arrested at the library in Alamance County, the Raleigh News & Sentinel reports. She faces four federal felony charges.

Sheriff Terry Johnson, who has been aggressively targeting illegal immigrants, has said that the arrest was related to an investigation of the county health department. The state Bureau of Investigation has been looking into allegations that health department employees wrote notes excusing illegal immigrants from work using names different from those on their medical records.

Randy Jones, a spokesman for the sheriff said that Martinez lied on her application to work at the library.

"That is not a situation where you can say, 'We're not going to tell anybody,' " Jones said.

But people who know Martinez say that a young woman in her situation should not be treated like a criminal.

"To go after productive citizens who have been our neighbors and friends for years? It's insane," said Marilyn Tyler, a retired librarian. "We can't just stand by and let this happen."

Oh, so NOW, they have become productive CITIZENS!!????

Agree Gofer. Since when are people illegally in this country (and I really don't care if they were brought here a few minutes after birth) citizens? Now she and her family can go home to wherever they came from and reform the library system there, all gratis of American taxpayer dollars which educated this person.

Instead of working on becoming a U.S. citizens she decided to steal identity then lie on her application. No matter why she did it, it's still wrong and illegal.

It is regrettable that the young woman’s parents choose to bring their child into our country illegally…..but before any softies start playing violin music consider that through out the course of this illegal child’s life she was given health care, probably welfare benefits and a good education, and an advanced quality of life. And many tax payers had to sacrifice time and/or things to help their own families so they could pay taxes to support illegals. So clearly the Illegal Librarian and her parents profited greatly at the expense of American tax payers.

The illegals are barely financially impacting on our politicians as they are out of the high tax bracket and they know people…. But we the average American are largely impacting and imposed on by the criminal invaders. Why should the American people be saddled with the financial support of illegals (of any age) coupled with the expectation of our acceptance of the destruction of our infrastructure at their hands? We all know that they have nothing to offer us….it’s all about what we can do for them, which is ridiculous.

And this young woman is not an isolated case….imagine that about half of the estimated 20-40 million illegals that are in our country are children….and as these illegal children and/or “anchor babiesâ€
