Heroin Haul at Border

by Leasa Conze, KOLD News 13 Producer

More than 30 pounds of heroin won't make it to the streets. It has been confiscated from an SUV crossing the border at Nogales.

U.S. Customs and Border Protectiion officers became suspicious last Friday when a man from Hermosillo, Sonora, tried to come through in his 2001 Chevy Tracker and acted strangely.

They called for their narcotics dog, "Herta." The dog showed interest in the vehicle so they did a closer inspection and found a hidden compartment underneath the SUV. It contained the heroin, valued at almost $2million.
