NV - 6 arrested after Nevada gang shooting

6 arrested after Nevada gang shooting

Gang-related shooting results in six arrests
    STAFF REPORT • August 15, 2010

About 30 shots were exchanged between two rival gangs at a Carson City apartment complex early Saturday, leading to six arrests, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

No one was hurt, though significant damage to several vehicles was reported.

About 1:26 a.m., deputies were dispatched to numerous 911 calls reporting shots fired at an apartment complex at 1549 North Lompa Lane in Carson City.

Officers remained on scene throughout the night searching the area and securing apartments.

Early Saturday, a SWAT team was used to clear one apartment where witnesses had seen suspects enter.

Although the apartment was apparently vacant, officers discovered four suspects hiding in a nearby complex in the apartment managers' residence, Furlong said.

The manager, Jose Diaz, had refused access to officers earlier, stating that he had lost his keys, Furlong said. Both the manager and his wife were taken into custody and charged with obstructing, the sheriff said.

No weapons were located during the searches, Furlong said.

Deputies seized approximately 1 ounce of methamphetamine from one apartment and a small quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana plants from the managers' office, Furlong said.

Those arrested were identified by the sheriff as Rene Garcia-Montez, 18, on a misdemeanor traffic warrant; Alex Solis, 18, possession of a switch blade; Jacqueline Romero-Magana, 18, possession of a controlled substance (meth); Joseph Lopez, 19, minor consuming of alcohol; manager Marina Diaz, 26, obstructing a public officer, and manager Jose Diaz, 32, obstructing a public officer.

Furlong asks that anyone with information on the case contact the sheriff's office communications center at 775-887-2010 or the investigations division at 775-887-2500.

"This incident marks the first significant gang-on-gang event in Carson City during the past 24 months," Furlong said in a statement.

Since the fall of 2008, he said, the sheriff's office has had a full-time gang unit.

I wouldn't be surprised if they all were. If you ever watched Gangland on the History Channel you will see how many gangs were started by illegals. The documentary which it really is even says when immigration laws were not enforced and the kids of illegals were picked on at school they would start a gang to get back at them and from there it would go further. On example was when they were building the buildings for the Olympics in Atlanta and they were behind schedule illegals were hired and immigration looked the other way due to that they ended up with la grande familia gang.
