Tea Party asks Obama to stand with fallen victims of illegal immigration

Nov. 4, 2012 will mark the second annual National Remembrance Day for those killed by illegal aliens. It is a day upon which we honor those Americans who did not perish in a foreign war, though they did die violently. You might say…they died in a different kind of war.

The National Remembrance Day was conceived by the Tea Party Immigration Coalition (TPIC) and last year, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) announced his sponsorship of a resolution making the first Sunday of every November the day we honor those Americans killed by illegal aliens.

On Nov. 3, 2011, Rep. King stood just outside the Capitol building with Congressman Walter Jones, activists Jeff Lewis and TPIC founder John Stahl stood alongside Jamiel Shaw Sr. and Ray Tranchant (both of whom lost their children to the reckless and even murderous actions of illegal aliens) and stated:

"These are real human stories, there's real pain and real agony going on on a daily basis in the United States of America, and we treat it as if it's just some kind of tolerable interruption of our lives. It's not. It's an interruption of innocent lives that takes place because we have an administration that refuses to enforce immigration law.."

According to King's website: "Since 1955, there have been 25,065 homicide arrests of criminal aliens in the United States, and King's resolution aims to honor and mourn these preventable deaths."

For far too long, we have sat by and watched as our fellow citizens die every year at the hands of illegal aliens, while our elected officials simply ignore the ever-growing crisis.

The federal government does not keep comprehensive statistics on the number of crimes committed in this country by illegal aliens. Taking a look at the results of a few independent studies, it is not surprising that they don’t.

However, in 2005, the Government Accountability Office announced the results of a study which examined the criminal history of 55,322 illegal aliens who were incarcerated in federal, state, and local institutions during the year 2003.

The results of that study follow: The 55,322 illegal aliens in the study accounted for a total of 459,614 arrests (or eight arrests per illegal alien). Their arrests represented a total of nearly 700,000 criminal offenses (or 13 offenses per illegal alien). 36 percent of those studied had been arrested at least five times previously.

In honor of the 2nd annual National Remembrance Day,

The TPIC has sent the following request to the White House:

Dear President Obama,

Millions of American citizens and legal immigrants are killed, maimed and otherwise victimized by illegal alien criminals every year. This unnecessary harm to Americans is perpetuated by the failure of the federal government to enforce our nation's immigration and employment laws. And the toll on our citizens will continue to grow so long as you ignore your responsibility to enforce those laws.

Accordingly, we have designated November 6th as a Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Illegal Aliens.

November 6th is also the 25th anniversary of the 1986 IRCA Amnesty for illegal aliens which encouraged, and even a quarter century later continues to encourage, illegal immigration by those expecting amnesty.

Mr. President, we are asking you to order all national flags to be flown at half-staff on November 4th to honor our fallen citizens, victimized not only by illegal alien criminals, but by the federal government's refusal to secure the border and enforce our immigration laws.
Respectfully,

The Tea Party Immigration Coalition

It should be noted that President Obama saw fit to lower flags at all federal facilities in remembrance of those killed in the January 2011 shooting attack in Tucson that left six dead and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) severely wounded.
For those victims, Obama also observed a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House and issued the following proclamation:

"As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on Saturday, January 8, 2011, in Tucson, Arizona, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, January 14, 2011."
While the Tucson shooting was certainly a tragedy and an act of more senseless violence in nation where such violence is becoming commonplace…Are the deaths of thousands of Americans at the hands of illegal alien criminals no less tragic?
Please join with the TPIC in asking President Obama to offer a "mark of respect" to the thousands of men, women and children who have been killed by illegal aliens.
