LUCIO BLANCO, MEXICO - Mexican authorities issued a warning near the Los Indios bridge on Friday after there were reports of fighting involving cartel members in Lucio Blanco.

Mexican authorities say the gunbattle lasted four hours in the small town about 10 minutes away from Los Indios. At the time, Mexican leaders were calling the area a situation of risk and were advising people to stay away.

Around the bridge, it was business as usual. You couldn't see any evidence of violence in Lucio Blanco. The port of entry was never closed and traffic wasn't diverted.

"I came from the hotel across the Los Indios bridge. I didn't hear anything. It was calm and quiet, but I wasn't in Lucio Blanco," says Jesus Leal, a Brownsville resident.

"No, I am not going. If I go, I go home to El Salvador but not to Mexico because it's too dangerous. There are a lot of drugs, a lot of delinquents. I preferred to stay here," says Enrique Munoz, a Los Indios resident.

This is the third time this week there was a report of violence near Valley border cities. The two others happened Wednesday in Matamoros in the central part of the city and in Rio Bravo near Donna on the same night.

Earlier in the week, Valley authorities were put on notice about the violence in Mexico. That wasn't the case Friday.
