Romney Using Immigration Issue for Advantage over Gingrich, Perry

Republican presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry have challenged front-runner Mitt Romney on his conservative bona fides. In South Carolina, the former Massachusetts governor thinks he has an issue that he can use to strike back – immigration, The Hill reports.

Romney has taken a harder line against illegal immigration than former House Speaker Gingrich and Texas Gov. Perry, who oppose deporting every illegal immigrant. And now Romney wants to exploit that gap to his advantage in South Carolina.

He plans to stress his immigration views in an appearance Monday with Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who worked with state legislators on Arizona’s controversial immigration law.

Earlier this year, the South Carolina Legislature passed a strict anti-illegal-immigration law similar to Arizona’s measure. The Hispanic population has exploded 148 percent in South Carolina since 2000, though Latinos make up only 5 percent of the state’s population.

“Mitt Romney stands apart from the others. He’s the only one who’s taken a strong across-the-board position on immigration,” Kobach told The Hill. “Gingrich and Perry, with their pro-amnesty positions, are not acceptable on their issues to me or the vast majority of Republicans.”

When Romney was here in L.V.for the opening of his office, I was waiting for him to come out the back door to be welcomed to give his speech..(right place...right time)..When he came out...I yelled at him "Deport the illegals!!!!"...He had gone past me at that point and stopped and turned around and walked about 6 feet back to me....gave me a hug and said "Yes....I will".....and I believe him

I also believe his sincerity. I have ofen wondered what might have happened if Romney had recieved the nomination in 2008 instead of McCain.

In order to KEEP THAT VERBAL PROMISE, Romney would have to BUCK THE ENTIRE UNDERGROUND ECONOMY, which is worth hundred$ of billion$ of EA$Y MONEY for employers who violate federal immigration laws each and every day.

Even if Romney is sincere when he tells us he will act to restore our border and not hand over amnesty to tens of millions of illegal aliens, he could find himself either a one-term president after he did it, or worse before he was able to do it.

One must understand that the Republican Party is controlled from the top down, not the bottom up by ultra-elitist globalists who were mainly responsible for the current crisis by fostering illegal alien-friendly hiring environments throughout the USA through their INACTION to stop it. They merely gave us LIP SERVICE, and the rest is history.
