An unemployed construction worker frustrated with trying to find work was arrested Saturday on Staten Island for saying he "killed two Mexicans," police said.
Michael Franklin called 911 five times Thursday morning after a contractor rejected him in favor of three Hispanic day laborers.
The 44-year-old Staten Island man boasted that he just "killed two Mexicans" and "threw them into the Great Kills Harbor."
"I'm gonna be riding around all day looking to kill Mexicans," he threatened in his last call.
"It all came back negative," said Inspector Michael Osgood, commanding officer of the hate crime unit, of the phony calls.
Franklin, who is black, was arrested Saturday near his Fox Hills home. He was charged with five counts of reckless endangerment as a hate crime, making a false police report and obstruction of justice.
Franklin snapped that day after he and three Hispanic day laborers hopped onto a pickup truck at Vanderbilt Ave. and Targee St. for work, Osgood said. The contractor told Franklin he didn't need his services.
The Hispanic workers taunted the dejected Franklin and called him a "Negro" in Spanish, Osgood said. Adding salt to the wound, Franklin called 311 looking for work - only to be turned down again.
At 7:40 a.m., he made the first 911 call, Osgood said. "This ain't right. I'm an American citizen," Franklin told cops, according to Osgood. "The Mexicans ... can work. I don't get work."
Osgood said Franklin was remorseful after being arrested.

All things being fair, the illegal aliens AND the contractor who hired them should all be arrested too.

Franklin should be released and given a good job immediately.
On the other-hand, the contractor and all day laborers who are in the country illegally need to be arrested, charged with every law they've broken that we can throw at them including racism and discrimination, and then after serving some time in jail the illegal aliens need to be deported. The contractor should be jailed for at least 10 years. We don't need him or his scum racist ways building anything in our country.
Osgood should be fired for thinking Franklin was a racist when he was actually a victim of racism.
Black Americans need to join US in this fight to stop illegal immigration o tell their Congressional Black Caucus to never stand with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on immigration issues, they need to stand with Americans on all these issues.
Wake Up Black America! Your jobs are being stolen by illegal aliens, your wages and salaries are being deflated by illegal aliens, your children's educations and chances to go to college are being robbed by illegal aliens, and you're civil rights are being destroyed by illegal aliens.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

No one can understand how Michael Franklin feels unless you put yourself in his position. I can feel his anger and how demeaning it is to feel useless at not being able to support your family. American construction workers all over this country are experiencing the same thing and most people say he went about it wrong. Tell me, what is the right way, should I complain about my unemployment problems with my local mayor, he of the open borders crowd? Should I notify my local sheriff who said a couple of years ago that most Hispanics were here legally? Or maybe I should complain to my senator, Lindsey Graham and hope he will fix the problem when he is part of the problem.
It is hard to speak out against injustice when the justice system is against you. It is hard to speak out about the inadequacies of an economic system when the powers that be are arrayed against you. Americans like Michael Franklin have given up on a system that has become too corrupt to govern.

I tend to agree with you, not really from a philosophical standpoint, but because I am SO sick of hearing the bleeding hearts tell us:
When people in LA riot immediately after a criminal is shot by a police officer, we are told we have to try to understand their anger and pain.
When the terrorists bomb ships, behead journalists, fly planes into buildings, we are told we need to open a dialogue with them, understand their perspective.
So where are these people in this case? Why aren't they talking about the anger and frustration of this man who was trying to work, and was really discriminated against, and then taunted by the illegal invaders who were given priority over a legal U.S. citizen?<div>Number*U.S. military*in S.Korea to protect their border with N.Korea: 28,000. Exactly. I don't condone violence of any kind except in self-defense, and neither does Mr. Franklin. He committed no violence. He harmed no one and damaged nothing. He called the police and vented in anger and frustration to them. I think we should be careful judging how victims of illegal immigration lash-out against positions they should have never been placed in to begin with. Certainly we can't condone some of their actions and choices, but perhaps we can at least understand them and remember "there but for the grace of God, might go I."
