Senator: Hidden Illegals At VA Site Had Help

ORLANDO, Fla.

WFTV obtained information Friday afternoon about a federal immigration raid at the construction site of Orlando's new VA Hospital.

Wednesday night, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents scoured the buildings, and nine illegal immigrants were caught at the job site; six of them were hiding in the ceiling.

Senator Bill Nelson told WFTV on Friday, the men hiding had to have been helped to get into their hiding spot and immigration officials know and have a very good idea of which contractors hired these men.

"It's one thing for contractors to take away American's jobs on a commercial construction project, that's bad enough. But it's adding a huge insult to injury when they are deliberately taking away American jobs on a project paid for by American taxpayers," Nelson said.

So far, no contractors have been arrested or removed from the job but investigations are continuing.

Nelson said he believes this bust shows there are serious holes in the Homeland Security worker verification system and something needs to change immediately.

No, really, it is! As a Retired USMC Gunnery Sergeant, and a user of the VA System, I'd really like to know just how this is possible?

You see, at every V.A. they have to pay Union Scale. To pay that, SSAN's have to be submitted on every worker hired to work on a project, and in most cases clearances obtained. Not for security of information per se', but at least the Security of the facility!

If any of this is true, than someone, somewhere, needs to be held accountable. I'd sure like more sources here, because I am going to be pitching a bitch in someone's direction for sure!

Alot of those subcontractors get people that they know are illegally fake ID and hire them. They found the same thing when ICE raided a school construction site in south west Miami Dade County. That case was even worse as there were kids in one part of the school and 5 or 7 of the illegals would not ahve even been allowed on the school property if they were legal Americans due to their criminals pasts back home. I would say they were sex offenders as they are the only ones who are banned from school property. They only found out about that after the ICE raid and when they got their real identity.

each subcontractor needs to be barred from any future gov related job, fined the cost of the search, and a penalty assigned against payments due for their work. Their license also needs to be suspended as well.

I agree "something need to be done quickly" to cease employers from down grading American workers for illegal immigrants. Those people have committed every act of crime they can commit in this Country, and are increasing job losses on a daily basis. Every vacant position becomes available undocumented alien’s employs, because employers pay less money for work duties by hiring illegals. The reason the U.S. economy is slow, employers and illegal immigrants are the persons to blame.

Govt. contrators are required to E-Verify employees. I suspect they used stolen IDs, not fake numbers. Long term prisoners have been known to sell their social security number. They don't need it.
