The Jewish community’s most vocal proponent of stricter immigration policies is accusing a national Jewish group of leading a “McCarthyite effortâ€

If this situation is typical the ADL actively discouraged anyone on their side of the amnesty issue from debating against Steinlight then avered at Hadassah that they should cancel him on the basis of the immigration discussion event being one sided.

The Jewish community’s appropriate position on legal and illegal mass immigration is one of debate, including here at Jewcy. But HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society), which now spends the bulk of its resources advocating for non-Jewish immigration, wants to preempt debate, and is using deplorable means to achieve that end.

Anyone that thinks that Amnesty is a good thing for America is either profiting from the illegals and/or doesn't understand the full ramifications.

This article explained a lot to me because I had a rather dramatic discussion about illegal immigration with a Jewish friend of mine recently. I gave her tons of information to substantiate everything that I said; she didn't read any of it and proceeded to tell me that I was wrong yet she offered no evidence to validate her opinion, it was all based on her feelings, and then she stupidly ended our dicussion by calling me a racist. I laughed when she called me that and told her, even if I was a racist ( which I am not), it still would not mean that any population had the right to invade our country and expect to be granted citizenship.

I have to admit I was taken aback by my friends ignorant attitude, I lost respect for her, in fact.

In the past, Pro-Americans had more time and less at stake, and could work to bring people around, but, Americans that have been taken in by Obama and the Amnesty crowd are hurting the rest of us, and they don't even realize it. And the Gov't is doing all it can to enact the Dream Act, we need the American people to fight this........

My Jewish friend and others like her will eventually learn how bad Amnesty is and the motives behind Obama's treachery, hopefully by the time they wake up, I hope that our country is not inundated by the illegal invaders being Amnestied in against the will of the majority of the American people.

Its nearly impossible if not completely impossible to have a rational discussion about Illegal immigration with those who favor an amnesty and open borders. Its almost like Spock and McCoy argueing. One is led by intelliegence, facts and logic. The other is led by his immagination, idealism, and emotions. (Im sure you can guess who is who there)

No "Progress by Pesach"

Now that Passover (Pesach) has started, it's worth looking at the results of Jewish pro-amnesty groups' campaign called Progress by Pesach*, to light a fire under Congress and the White House to get moving on "comprehensive immigration reform." This is of more than parochial interest because the effort was led by HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, whose president, Gideon Aronoff, is now chairman of the National Immigration Forum (the national umbrella group for open-borders advocacy) and as such the paramount chief of the amnesty movement. (This is the same guy Derb debated a couple years back.) It was supported by all the big national Jewish organizations, and there was a concerted effort to blacklist one of the few dissenters, the Center's Stephen Steinlight.

So, how'd they do? The organizers must have known they were going to have a hard time, because they set the bar very, very low — just 10,000 e-signatures for the online petition. This should have been easy to do, given how politically engaged and generally liberal American Jews are. As the blogger Kvetcher noted, "10,000 out of millions. What a joke for a program claiming to speak on behalf of American Jewry. ... How hard was it to find 10,000 U.S. Jews to just e-sign something backed by the major Jewish organizations?"

Apparently, too hard, The total number of signatures was ... 3,500. And even some of the signatures they did get were bogus. If this is any indication of the coolness toward amnesty among a left-leaning group during Great Depression II, then this trial balloon launched today by the White House in the New York Times is going nowhere.

I know what you mean ELE. I was verbally attacked at dinner recently by a yelling Jewish woman, too, while another sat by in mutual stubborness. She wouldn't listen to anything I said and all but threw food at me. From what I have been able to conclude from this she is an ignorant blind sheep of liberal brainwashing with no facts to support her views. Needless to say, I think of her as a nasty dogmatic idiot now. All the Jewish people I know are still so stigmatized about prejudice they can't tell the difference between today and yesterday.
