AP-In many parts of this country, there are communities which would appear unrecognizable to the majority of Americans. Whereas, immigrants to the United States once made a valiant effort to learn English and create a good life for their families--too many of today's immigrants want the rights entitled to American citizens, without ever making any effort to assimilate.

A recent Pew Hispanic Center report offers some troubling results. Their survey found that over half of Latinos living in the U.S., between the ages of 16 and 25 identify their nationality by their family’s country of origin. 20 percent of those surveyed identified themselves simply as Hispanic or Latino, while less than 20 percent call themselves “American.â€
