PHOENIX - It's a battle between Chamber of Commerce Republicans and social conservatives. Traditionally, they work together, but now they're split over immigration.

On Wednesday, Governor Jan Brewer cut the ceremonial ribbon at PayPal's new Chandler call center.

PayPal's President says SB 1070 and new immigration bills had no effect on his company's decision to move to Arizona.

"You know what, we follow what is going on, but the politics are secondary to what we are trying to do in our business," said Scott Thompson.

But at the State Capitol, the President of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, a business group, fears these new immigration bills will be a job killer.

"We know our tourism industry employs 200,000 Arizonans..is very, very concerned about what these measures will do," said Glenn Hamer.

The Chamber of Commerce says SB 1070 made Arizona business take a $150 million hit. They claim Arizona, one of the top five states for conventions and tourism, has slipped.

Senate President, Republican Russell Pearce doesn't believe it.

"Oh, you know they love to throw out that information..it is not true..they know it is not true. Tourism is up if American supports us..three to one across America..that is really going to hurt Arizona?" said Pearce.

What does Gov. Brewer have to say about the new immigration bills? Nothing..yet.

"I have not had the opportunity to hear them..I am awaiting getting the information and listening to the debate," said Brewer.

Other immigration bills working their way through the State Legislature:

SB 1309: would deny automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants. It passed out of a committee on Feb. 22.

SB 1308: would force hospitals to check the immigration status of patients before treating them, unless there is an emergency. It is still in the committee phase.

I can see AZ saving money that it doesn't have to spend on welfare for those illegals and anchor babies. Not to mention the cost of unemployment for Americans who lost their jobs to illegals.

It would be great to get all illegal aliens and their anchor babies off welfare but that isn't STATE money.
Welfare money comes from the FEDERAL government to the states.
The state divides it up and sends it to the counties to give to people.
The federal government writes the rules about who they MUST give it to.
Any money that isn't given out must be returned to the federal government, the state doesn't get to keep it.
Federal laws and federal welfare rules need to be changed to stop welfare from going to illegal aliens and anchor babies.

IMO, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and it's divisions such as the AZ Chamber of Commerce are our greatest enemy. It's unfortunate, these corporate leaders are more concerned about their profit, than their country. These same leaders use plenty of political campaign money to fund our political opponents.

We need to inform these leaders about getting Americans "back to work". Only then will the economy improve. Only then will the real estate market recover. When the economy recovers, we all profit.

Join me and send this guy an email. Explain how immigration enforcement improves public safety and security. Tell him how important it is to put legal immigrants and citizens to work. Inform him of our support for AZ and it's enforcement laws.

    Here's my email to Glenn:

    Glenn,

As a small business owner, I support SB1070. I wish more business owners would support immigration enforcement and the federal govt's E-Verify program.

We need to put legal immigrants and citizens to work, in order to restore the economy. With good employment numbers, the ecomomy improves and we all benefit.

Without jobs for Americans, the real estate market will not recover, construction jobs will not recover, the hospitality industry and tourism will suffer.

I recommend you work with the Gov. and support immigration enforcement, which will help economic recovery.

    Regards,
