U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter: (03/09/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 6,632 pounds of marijuana, 86.9 pounds of cocaine, 8.93 pounds of methamphetamine and 6.34 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested 16 criminal aliens and 13 gang members. There were eight rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a handgun, .5 grams of methamphetamine, $35,299.00 in U.S currency, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) near Indio, California.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for attempted rape in the state of North Carolina and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,187 pounds of marijuana near Rio Grande City, Texas. Agents were tracking foot sign near the Rio Grande River when they discovered a freshly dug pit covered by plywood. The pit contained 70 bundles of marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,117 pounds of marijuana while patrolling along the Rio Grande River near Madero, Texas. The marijuana was discovered abandoned in the brush.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4.03 pounds of heroin and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near San Clemente, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted and a subsequent search uncovered the heroin.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 242 pounds of marijuana and arrested seven illegal aliens near Why, Arizona. One of the subjects was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang with an extensive criminal history. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Big Field, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 711 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet truck near Fort Hancock, Texas. The driver of the vehicle absconded to Mexico on foot after abandoning the truck. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC along with five illegal aliens and seized a tractor-trailer at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The USC, who was operating the tractor-trailer, presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology exposed anomalies within the trailer. Agents discovered the five illegal aliens locked in the trailer during the subsequent search.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Rio Grande City, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history including a conviction for attempted murder, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested six illegal aliens from Mexico and seized 246 pounds of marijuana and a GMC truck near Stanfield, Arizona. A 9mm handgun, two magazines and 24 rounds of ammunition were also discovered in the vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 216 pounds of marijuana, a Ford truck, and arrested a USC near Douglas, Arizona. Agents observed an ultralight aircraft (ULA) enter U.S. airspace and drop suspected contraband before returning to Mexico. Agents responded to the drop zone and encountered the subject loading the marijuana into the truck.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 86.9 pounds of cocaine, a Toyota van, and arrested a USC and a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Yuma, Arizona. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the cocaine.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Freer, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for child rape in the state of Tennessee and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Cowlic, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested 12 illegal aliens from Mexico and seized 1,171 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents encountered the group and recovered the marijuana with the assistance of CBP Office of Air and Marine (OAM) air assets.

Buffalo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Rochester, New York. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureños gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for physical abuse of a child.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,678 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer, and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a handgun, a rifle, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Three Points, Arizona. The subjects were also in possession of binoculars and additional ammunition.

Detroit Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Toledo, Ohio. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and residential burglary in the state of Illinois, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico near Madero, Texas. The subject attempted to avoid apprehension by swimming across the Rio Grande River. During the attempt, the subject fell into distress but was rescued by a Border Patrol marine unit.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for injury to a child in the state of New York, and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 22 pounds of marijuana, a Cadillac, and arrested four USCs near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, one of the subjects was identified as a member of the Texas Chicano Brotherhood prison gang. Records checks revealed the same subject had an extensive criminal history, including a prior conviction for homicide.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Cowlic, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault of a child in the state of Nebraska and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Ecuador near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for criminal sexual assault in the state of Minnesota and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 42 pounds of marijuana, a Dodge truck, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Tombstone, Arizona. The subject presented herself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana hidden in the truck.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Columbus, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including an active warrant of arrest for criminal sexual contact with a minor issued in the state of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Grand Forks Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Bemidji, Minnesota. During processing, both subjects were identified as members of the Sureños 13 gang. Records checks revealed both subjects had been previously ordered removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2.31 pounds of heroin, 8.93 pounds of methamphetamine, a Ford truck, and arrested a USC and a national of Mexico near San Clemente, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents revealed the narcotics hidden inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual battery in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sierra Vista, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual conduct with a minor in the state of Arizona and had been previously removed from the United States.
