Illegals are NOT cheap Labor...

Cheap Labor
Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?
Business don't want to pay a decent wage,
consumers don't want expensive produce,
Govenment will tell you Americans don't want the jobs
but the bottom line is cheap labor.
"The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie.
There is no such thing as "cheap labor."
Take, for example, an illegal Mexican who sneaks in here with his wife and five children.
He takes a job for five or six dollars an hour.
At that wage with six dependents he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year if he files income tax he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.
He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent,
He qualifies for food stamps.
He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.
His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He requires bilingual teachers and books.
He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.
If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled they qualify for SSI.
Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for medicare.
All of this is at that taxpayers expense.
He doesn't have to worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.
Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.
He cannot be fired, harassed, or sued.
He and his family receive the equivalent of $20 to $30 an hour in benefits.
Working Americans are lucky to have $5 or $6 an hour left after paying their bills and his.
They also pay for increased crime, graffiti, and trash cleanup.
Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT!"

Excellent points all, in what you posted from Craigslist.
But for me, the most important and under-reported and speculated-upon
ramificiation of all these impending legions of illegal or newly-"legalized" immigrants is that they and their considerable numbers, will offer a real shot in the arm to the American Labor Movement in general, which is by now down to about , what, 13-15% of the workforce? For anyone who thinks that there are all kinds of interests who could benefit from "cheap labor", it will soon prove to be an illusion, because it won't be cheap for long. It couild prove to be The Eternal Return to a preciise social configuration of literally a cenury ago, with an IMPORTED proletariat that will be used with utmost cynicism (masquerading as Idealism), by a Left that is looking for opportunities to re-establish itself. This is a virtual wet-dream for them. They DARE not even TALK about it now, for fear of giving away the game, and revealing their ultimate objectives, but attached like noisy tin cans to the rear of this endless wedding procession of illegal/legals will be dozens more new
social opportunities, for lawyers , for a resurgence of litigation, for God knows what else----and all the while no one will ask or answer the all important question of WHY we are obligated to continually start over and add a multitiude of NEW problems when we are still so far away from settling the old ones.w
