Four people have been taken into custody and are expected in federal court this morning in connection with what the FBI alleges was a West Greenville prostitution ring that involved the exploitation of several illegal alien women.

Four people were charged with "keeping, maintaining, controlling, supporting, employing, harboring illegal aliens for the purpose of prostitution," according to an FBI affidavit.

The alleged ring involved the prostitution of at least six women who entered the country illegally, according to the affidavit. It alleges that the ring was based from a residence at 52 Dorsey Blvd. off Easley Bridge Road and received women from the Charlotte area.

The FBI and the Greenville County Sheriff's Office teamed up for the investigation, during which investigators staked out the residence and picked through trash bins to find sometimes more than 100 empty condom packages in a single day, the affidavit states.

It alleges that in May 2006, a confidential source gave the Sheriff's Office a business card that advertised prostitution locations in Greenville County and showed a diagram of 58 Dorsey Ave., which is 100 yards from the other residence.

The Sheriff's Office had responded to 58 Dorsey Ave. in June 2005 to investigate "possible prostitution activity," according to the affidavit.

Further investigation found that electrical service for 58 Dorsey Ave. had been transferred to nearby 52 Dorsey Blvd. under the same customer's name, the affidavit alleges.

In 2007, an informant provided pictures "from a reliable source of information" to the FBI and the Sheriff's Office that identified 52 Dorsey Blvd. as a place used "to house prostitutes and to facilitate prostitution," the affidavit alleges.

potamus20 I read the column twice.... I never saw any reference to the ethnicity of the women in question. Who is to say that they weren't asian? That is also very prevalent here in the U.S.

Secondly I would like to say....

    We humans are doomed.

We won't ever last as long as the dinosaurs the way we are going. We just can't seem to quit fighting each other; killing each other!!!

I'm just as upset about illegal aliens as many others who have had trouble finding jobs due to companies hiring illegal aliens because they will work for less. And I am very upset over the hightened crime rate due to aliens feeling that they can do what ever they like in the "Land of Opportunity"

I also believe, though, that we as a species are doomed to extinction due to our ignorance and proclivity toward superficiality, selfishness, greed and an inability to see farther than our own wants and needs.

No doubt, we as a nation have become needier of late, which only feeds our feelings of unfairness, greed, anger and vengeance. But, is this what we should be????

    I think not.

    I hope not.

If they were self reliant we wouldn't have to send billions of dollars to them in aid. But we probably would.

WillDogg2003 Again, the topic is prostitution, but I guess will give in:

President elect of Mexico Felipe Calderon (backed my Bush II) issued for the police in the boarder cities to have their arms removed in efforts to clean up the corrupt police force in Tijuana and neighboring cities. Why? Drug smuggling across the border. Why? American demand of drugs and the addiction problems that are hurting the nation (legal or illegal drugs). I agree with you dd136 that the Mexican government needs a radical change, but your choice of words are of a hurtful nature, filled with spite. The last president Vicente Fox didn't do anything for Mexico but allow American real estate agencies and foreign manufacturing companies into Mexico. He was viewed as a puppet of Bush by Mexican critics. Presidnet Calderon seems to be trying to have a sincere effort to bring Mexico out of its struggles, but again, he seems to be too friendly towards American policies and corporations. The US needs Mexico, which is why so many American companies are having facilties spring up across the border (look at the city of Mexicali as an example). Maybe if the person that ran against Felipe Calderon, Manuel Lopez Obrador, things would have been different, but he was not the favorite of American officials. Mexico is fighting to make things better, from the state of Chiapas where the Zapatista group make an honest effort to improve the lives of the indegous people (most of whom don't speak Spanish) to the teacher protest in the state of Oaxaca. Many Mexicans, mostly all, do want a change, but American influence is too strong of a presence. Border crossing is small minded politics. The bigger picture is to see who can the US trade with in the future and how the labor will be supplied. How can the US benifit from rsources provided by another country? It's strategic to have a semi-developed country nearby, because Canada won't do the work and allow a numerous amount of American business in. I do agree in Mexico needs a change, and it needs to be self-reliant, something that may hurt the US economy. I don't think the US wants to see Latin American countries as self reliant, it doens't benifit the States. The US wants to remain as the super power of the West. It's fine by me, as long as we set an example of morality and ethical behavior for the rest of the world and condemn behavior that deems otherwise.

(When I mention the US, I refer not to the people, but to governement, corporations, and policy).

i9search I have one question......are these ladies required to complete I-9's? If they are going to work in the US they must complete an I-9.

And the Spanish are guilty of doing the same in Mexico, and other countries south of our border. Why do you want to speak the language (sort of) of your conquerors? Why not accept the universal language of the world, English, or maybe the ancestral language of your people?

    WillDogg2003 payforit:

Most women that are used for prostitution are usually tricked into thinking that their paper work and documentation will be fixed and prepared once in this country but they find the contrary are exploited instead. For them to return to their home country is also a difficult task since the pimps have a strong control over them. The article does state that the four individuals have a charge for "harboring illegal aliens for prostitution". So these women were specifically brought in for prostitution, and I'm sure they were lied to when brought here with promises of proper paper work; which is the case for most of these women that come from Latin America, Asia, Russia, etc. The article also says "several illegal aliens", which means that some of the prostitutes may have been citizens or legal residents. We don't know their specific story since each case is unique within itself, but the issue here is prostitution, NOT illegal immigration. The four individuals deserve what they get for exploitation.

Oh, and color does make a difference when born here, just look at our history in the 1960's, which is recent if you think about it, just two generations ago.

Also, Americans are constantly breaking the law in Mexico, they known as the college students.

As I said to you prior, "talk about hatred" you sure have some towards Amercians who'd like the laws of this country to be respected by those who wish to escape their ridiculously awful countries of origin, namely Mexico.

Every soverign country has laws. Even one so corrupt and 3rd world as Mexico. Respect is key. Speaking of which, on a recent visit to Ensenada, the federal gov't had their soldiers complete with rifles line the border all the way in through Tijuana. We, as well as every vehicle in front and behind us was stopped and questioned. Very frightening to be sure. Why? We later found out that the local police departments were trafficking drugs across our border as well as shooting federal agents.

    So much for Mexico.

National pride is fine. Apparently that's what you exhibit towards Mexico. Just make sure you look at what there is to be proud of with your eyes wide open. The neighbors you left behind there do not live in poverty upwards of 60% due to any fault of the US. It's the worthless people who run your government. Or the criminals who run the people who run your Gov't. Mexico is a disaster that needs to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch. the sad part is that it's citizens are leaving their country to die while running across the border.

And clearly if you do not wish to be part of a solution do not make your problems someone else's burden. Maybe a little trip to san diego's border towns will change your mind as to what the Mexicans bring with them in the way of "culture". Maybe even a balloon ride over Rancho Penesquitos to see the filth that lives in the little valleys there waving their guns around with beat up furniture, dead cars and endless garbage strewn all about will make you think of beloved Mexico.

either way - calling it as Ive seen it.

SonnyWrangler that ANYONE who comes into this coutry illegally or who OVERSTAYS HIS/HER VISA IS AN ILLEGAL ALIEN/IMMIGRANT...Period!!!

The Ladies of the Night in this instance could also be Bank Robbers of the Night....

Their origin of country has nothing to do with them now being deported period.

First they will serve their prison time/fines and then they are out of here.

The Gutless Busch Administration and its 'Lackies" are just postponing what needs to be done.

payforit Now come on. There are legal ways to enter this country and jumping over the border is not one of them. I do care about the problems in other parts of the world but it is no excuse for braking the laws of the US. I can still love while respecting our laws. As far as speaking their language, why should I? The language of the US is English and if you can?t speak it, it will be very difficult to be successful, period. NOT ALL MEXICANS are illegals, you seem to have a tough time distinguishing the two. If you are undocumented, you are illegal. Now, it also seems like you are justifying law breaking by saying the US has broken treaties. Get over it! If I get pulled over by a cop for speeding, should I just tell them that well, I didn?t think the speed limit was justifiable or say well the US has broken other laws so why shouldn?t I? Doesn?t make any since. It?s people like you that think that people who make money should pay for everyone else. Take from one class of people to give to others, where?s the motivation? I believe that Joseph Stalin had that same idea. What ever happened to working hard to get what you want? Color doesn?t make a difference, whether you?re an immigrant or born here, you still have the same opportunities as everyone else, just as long as you do it legally. On the note of I haven?t live in Mexico, well if I went there illegally and treated their laws like illegals (doesn?t matter what country your from) I would be thrown in prison without a fraction of the human compassion that the US shows.

lr222000 As to me being an illegal, I am not. So for you so called laws broken and the corrupted few latin leaders there are two responses. There are bad apples in most nationalities as you may suspect. As far as treaties and corrupt leaders, the Mexican judical, legislative, and executive branch are directly made up like the USA. To be exact, the Mexican branches only mirror what the USA branches have become. An oligarchy which is bought and sold much like the history of Americas. America is also responsible for extinguishing the Natchez native tribes of the South, not by assault, but by disease. Kind of like your brain when you made assumptions that I am a criminal because I was an illegal.

To be quite honest, you haven't lived in New Mexico and wouldn't know the culture until you visited. As far as Mexicans or illegals you like to say, they are quite intelligent and very modest. They take care of their own, and stay rather introverted until you speak their language as I can, do, and would out of respect. Then they become the most wonderful people and are quite conservative and how they live. Frankly, you sound less educated than most people because you couldn't see the forest from the trees in what I wrote. That's not my problem. However, I don't know of many Mexican's calling me in the middle of my graveyard shift to bicker about how bad a Mexican is. And the night this guy called me I held him on the line several minutes becauses I figured he was paying the toll charges. Lastly, when I finally had to answer the all important business call, I hung up on the jerk and took the other call. To which he called several times and left messages, and when he finally reached me again to mores wasted tolls for me, while I get my jollies on his ignorance, much like yours overall.

Fine words are wasted on a chap like you, when you primitive mind can't grasp that I know this country is a democracy much anymore, and voters are not participating as they should be. Hopefully you voted instead of posting here last election. Noting all of this, the limited capacity for seeing the bigger picture is yours. When you look up oligarch, let's see how many minutes it takes you to look up and then respond promptly. After that, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts upon the other treaties this country has broken and still attempting to mend with the native cultures. You can't remove Mexico from the continent, but if you're as smart as the White House, Senate, or House leaders, You'll find a way to try. The Native cultures were here before my existence, and yours. To disrespect them is like me disrespecting the inventions all have given to move us all forward. Hispanics are the most recent to recieve recognition for their tasks. As far as you, and the minority, Mexicans' will never be the minority and Afro Americans are up and coming as well Asians. All of these people's ancestors have lived as slaves since before us all. The fact you have so many posts means you may be trailer trash much like us, but our time zones are different and priorities as well. If you can't relate to these statements you might to how enslaved you are. Making a miserable paycheck to survive each week is everyone's problem and you seem to still see hispanics, latinos, mexicans, spanish, whatever other race as a negative. They are positive influences as to why an immigrant russian is mentioned on the Niagra Falls generation plant 8-10 times and his dedication to more forward.

You seemed to have stepped back and taken things too personal and gripe way too much and have way too much time on your hands to blog. Don't let the color difference get you, your pants go on the same way mine do. I choose to work, go to school, see my mom today, and pay for classes as well as find a time post. Good luck there in the south, just don't forget the Native cultures where starved, shot, skinned, disembowled, etc. because english mentality still seems to see the language as superior. Next time you post, find out what the word love means to the Shinto and get back to me. Then you can understand some relation to our past here and the magic Peruvians harnessed. Good luck on your research, but don't hurt yourself.

Out of New Mexico, Old Mexico, there was no difference. "Good Day."
