U-City man charged with molesting six and eight year old girls

A 34 year old man is accused of sexually assaulting six and eight year old girls, in the basement of his University City apartment building.

Police say they arrested Juan Garcia of the 8300 block of Delmar, after investigating reports of the assaults Monday evening.

One of the victims was treated and released at an area hospital. The second did not require medical treatment.

Garcia is charged with Statutory Sodomy and Child Molestation. He\'s held on $150,000 cash bond.

The Department of Immigration and Custom Enforcement was notified as Garcia’s citizenship status could not be verified.

Man charged with sexually assaulting two girls

A University City man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting two young girls.

Officers responded to a call of a sexual assault of a minor at 7:40 p.m. Monday in the 8300 block of Delmar Boulevard, said University City Captain Michael L. Ransom, commander, Bureau of Investigation.

Ransom said when officers arrived at the scene they found out that two girls, ages 8 and 6, had been touched inappropriately by an adult. According to police, one of the girls was treated and released at a local hospital. Police said the second girl did not require any medical attention.

Police said an investigation led them to Juan J. Garcia, 43, of the 8300 block of Delmar Boulevard. Garcia has been charged with first-degree statutory sodomy and first-degree child molestation. He is being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond.

Police said the Department of Immigration and Custom Enforcement was called because Garcia’s citizenship could not be immediately verified.
