LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- An illegal drug operation has been shut down in Louisville's Newburg neighborhood. Metro Police and federal agents arrested seven people on cocaine and weapons charges. WAVE 3's Mark Schnyder reports on how this all went down.

Police got a tip and Thursday went by the home and made the bust. It really was that easy. In fact, the lead detective says it may have been the easiest drug bust he's ever been on.

The husband and father leading the household on Ilex has a real job. Police say Margarito Gonzales Pena told them he owns his own construction company. But police say he tried to make a few extra bucks for his family by selling cocaine out of his home. Two children lived among the alleged drug dealing.

"It's very aggravating. It's being seen more and more and I wish it wasn't," said LMPD Det. Tommy Elmore.

After being invited inside by Pena's family, Elmore and his team found a digital scale with cocaine residue on it. When the father came home, police hit the mother load.

"He ended up ultimately giving up the large amount of cocaine that was found at the house," Elmore said.

Police carried out about two pounds -- or approximately $20,000 worth -- of cocaine and four guns the family had on hand for protection.

We talked to three very near-by neighbors. All said they were too afraid to talk on camera, but did tell me they had no idea anything illegal was going on over there. In fact, one lady told us her kids played over there.

To say the suspects cooperated with police on this drug bust is an understatement.

"I've never had one go exactly that smooth," said Elmore.

Some of the suspects are believed to be illegal immigrants and could be deported. The suspects also face federal charges
